[Edinburgh], 1947–1959

A substantial record of first decade of the famous Edinburgh International Festival, including three scarce programmes from the very first year (1947), a comprehensive group from 1951, and a decorative album adapting various ephemeral pieces into an attractive and highly personal commemoration for the 1955 iteration.
The Edinburgh International Festival is a world-renowned celebration of music, theatre, opera, and dance held every August. It was founded in 1947 to help heal and unite people after World War II – an idea conceived by the General Manager of Glyndebourne Opera Festival, Rudolf Bing.
Very good condition; some creasing and occasional edge-wear; foxing to a few leaves in the 1951 bound volume.
